Carlsbad Unified School District celebrated its 50th year of educational excellence recently, and is currently undergoing a modernization of its high school that will provide the district’s educators with quality facilities and materials they need to help students reach their full potential. The CUSD mission is to offer a global community of learners to guarantee “students flourish in life as enthusiastic, confident learners through a world-class educational system characterized by vigorous personalized curriculum, dedicated teaching and total community involvement.” This district combines strong academic learning and creative programs for a well-rounded education, which has been recognized by the state.
Encinitas Union School District serves the City of Encinitas and the La Costa area of Carlsbad in North San Diego County. Approximately 5,600 students in Kindergarten – 6th grade attend the district’s nine schools. All of the schools have been recognized as California Distinguished Schools, and La Costa Heights School and Olivenhain Pioneer have been recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools. This diverse district also rates high in the state and country for their student test scores and academic programs.
This school district is located in northern San Diego County and covers an area of 100 square miles. Poway Unified operates 23 schools in San Diego and 11 in Poway. Around 33,000 students are served, and this is the third largest district in the county.
San Diego Unified School District serves around 133,000 students and has done so for more than 150 years. This is California’s second largest school district and the eighth largest in the country. The student population is very diverse, with more than 15 ethnic groups and 60 languages and dialects. Founded in 1854, this district has grown to hold more than 250 educational facilities with more than 15,800 employees. The district focuses on creating educational excellence and equality among its students, and this has resulted in major grant funding from many public and private agencies supporting education.
San Dieguito Union High School District serves students in Encinitas, Solana Beach, Del Mar, and the surrounding areas of San Diego’s North County. Including nine middle and high school institutions, San Dieguito Union attracts people from around the globe with its inviting and exceptional educational system. This district emphasizes firming basic skills while meeting state requirements and preparing students for higher education.
San Marcos Unified School District has been educating students since 1976. Currently, nearly 15,000 students attend these schools, most of which have been recognized as California Distinguished Schools and National Blue Ribbon Schools. Even though the district is quickly growing, educators have been honored for their efforts with the number of Advanced Placement tests being given and passed. More of the district’s students are also meeting local, state and national requirements.
Solana Beach School District is located in northern San Diego County and serves around 2,700 students. Emphasis is put on basic skills sustained by a progressive curriculum. These schools consistently ranked at or near the top in county testing, and regular high student scores prove that needs are being met. Many schools in this district have received numerous awards and are recognized at the state and national levels for various accomplishments. Solana Beach currently serves six elementary schools.
Poway Unified School District is located in northern San Diego County, California. Encompassing an area of 100 square miles, district schools are situated in suburban San Diego and throughout the rural city of Poway.
PUSD operates 25 elementary schools (K-5), six middle schools (6-8), four comprehensive high schools (9-12), and one continuation high school. Twenty-five schools are located in the city of San Diego; eleven schools in the city of Poway. The District serves approximately 33,000 students and is the third largest school district in the county.
