Spanning just over a mile in length, Mission Beach is at the center of the Golden Strand, between South Mission Beach and Pacific Beach. Mission Beach is one of the most popular beach areas in San Diego. It is the ideal spot to soak up the sun on the sand or ride the waves with your surfboard. There are numerous water sport rental shops located at the beach as well as surf lessons offered for those just getting their feet wet. In addition to the sand and waves, this area is well known for its boardwalk and amusement park Belmont Park.
Belmont Park features rides such as a roller coaster, bumper cars, a tilt-a-whirl, carousel and more. There is also an arcade, games, laser tag, shops and many restaurants providing entertainment for the whole family. The entire area has become a popular destination for local college students, tourists and families. With several restaurants, bars, and coffee shops located it has become a popular place to spend the day.
Mission Bay Park is the largest aquatic park of its kind in the country. It consists of over 4,600 acres in roughly equal parts land and water. Mission Bay boasts 27 miles of shoreline, 19 of which are sandy beaches with eight locations designated as official swimming area. It offers boat docks, sailboat and motor rentals, bike and walk paths. With all types of recreation available to you here, there is something for everyone in Mission Beach!
